LOCAL AND AWAY TOURNAMENT RULES
(The following rules
are established to speed up pace of play)
On the tee
- play ready golf
-
Play ready golf-
don't worry about honors. Short hitters should hit
first.
-
All players visually
mark the flight of each player's ball.
-
Hit a provisional
ball if you think that ball may be out of bounds.
On the
fairway - always keep up with the group ahead
-
Three minutes
maximum when looking for a lost ball.
-
If the ball is lost,
drop another ball where you think it was lost, either in the rough or on the
fairway. This incurs a two stroke penalty from that position.
-
On the fairway or in
the rough, you may move your ball six inches, but not closer to the hole (see
Cordova exceptions).
-
If you are not in
the line of flight of another player, you may leave the cart and move to your
ball and get ready to hit. Take selected clubs with you. The person in the
cart will bring the cart to you after he hits. If walking, walk to your ball.
On par 3
holes, call up the next group
-
When your group
reaches the green, mark the balls, signal the group that is on the tee to hit
up. Move to the back of the green for safety.
On the
green, be ready to hit when it is your turn
-
Player who is
furthest away putts first. Be ready when it is your turn to putt.
-
After a player has
chipped out of the sand trap onto the green, go ahead and putt while he is
raking the trap.
-
If your putt is
short and makeable and is not in another player's line, you should putt out --
i.e. continuous putting.
-
No gimmies allowed.
All putts are to be holed out.
-
Upon completion of
putting, move quickly off the green.
-
Wait until the next
tee to register the scores.
-
Drive the carts to
the back of the green or close to the next tee box. Do the same with hand
carts.
If there
is a hole open ahead and you are being pressed by a group behind:
-
If on the tee, let
them tee off and play through.
-
If on the fairway,
allow them to hit up or past you, then wait for them to play through.
